Sandra Williams is a devoted and passionate advocate for individuals in New Mexico who are deaf or hard of hearing. Her involvement with the New Mexico Commission for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons (NMCDHH) and the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) has earned her the respect and support of those around her.
Currently, Sandra is the Service Coordinator at the NMCDHH Las Cruces Satellite Office and works to ensure that hard of hearing citizens throughout the southern part of the state receive the highest quality of services. She is sensitive to the needs of individuals with hearing loss, particularly to senior citizens, and strives to ensure that education and training be made available to all. Sandra works closely with several agencies and programs so that they have the appropriate information necessary to successfully provide accommodating services and access to communications devices.
Sandra has also been very supportive in establishing and maintaining new HLAA chapters in New Mexico. She was successful in securing funds towards the start up of the Las Cruces chapter of HLAA. She was instrumental in ensuring that the chapter had the support of NMCDHH during its infancy and made every effort to keep a hard of hearing specialist assigned to the Las Cruces HLAA office. Sandra is now giving that same attention to starting up an HLAA chapter in Roswell, NM.
Alongside her many duties with NMCDHH and her support of the local HLAA chapters, Sandra never turns down opportunities to meet with and assist clients. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide a listening ear and has educated and encouraged hard of hearing individuals to self-advocate. She is an excellent role model to others and maintains a positive attitude through her tireless efforts.
