Linda's personal experience in losing her hearing has prompted her to educate herself on the many topics related to hearing loss. With this information she has learned to advocate not only for herself but for others. She has proven to be a great role model and mentor to individuals as they have started their own personal journeys with hearing loss.
For over 20 years, Linda has been a member of the National Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) and serves as Secretary for the HLAA - Greater Baltimore Chapter. She is an enthusiastic participant and organizer of HLAA events and gatherings and has volunteered her time at the HLAA National Conventions held in Washington, D.C. Her continued dedication and commitment to time has given continuity to the local HLAA chapter.
Linda is also active in the Association of Late Deafened Adults (ALDA) and has served as past officer. She continues to support the objectives of ALDA and provides valuable insight to their discussions of communication practices and acceptance of every individual who experiences hearing loss.
Additionally, Linda has been an advocate for Maryland Relay services and has been instrumental in the education of Captioned Telephone Service, especially when it first became available. She volunteers for the "Walk for Hearing" fundraiser event each year and works to raise funds to pay for CART services and sign language interpreters that allow for equal communication access for individuals with hearing loss.
Linda, in her full time job, is a Housing Development Officer for the Housing and Development Administration, part of Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, located in Crownsville, MD. She continues to seek out new/current information around hearing loss and graciously shares information and resources with others. She has been described by her peers as a very proactive, dedicated and thoughtful individual.
