Stella Antonio-Conley is active as an advocate in her community. She has a special gift within the world of Theater and is passionate about teaching children.
As a drama teacher at the Maryland School for the Deaf, Stella has created numerous plays, and teaches children how to create plays as well. For two consecutive years, Stella's plays earned first place honors at Center Stage, a popular theater in Baltimore. She is a master at teaching and preparing children to perform on the big stage resulting in an exceptional experience for the students as well as for those who attend their performances.
Stella has worked closely with the Quest theatrical group and has involved her drama students in theatrical performances. In addition, Stella volunteers her time in storytelling at Barnes and Noble book store. This storytelling is open to the public allowing a variety of people to enjoy the experience. Through her instruction and sharing of the art of storytelling, she has inspired students to volunteer as storytellers and to share and contribute their talent within their communities.
Stella has been described as creative, independent, energetic and ambitious. Because of her exceptional work, Stella has inspired not only children, but adults as well. John Snavlin, Assistant Superintendent and Principal at Maryland School for the Deaf, says, "Simply put, Stella is one of the most valued employees of this school. She is an exemplary advocate for the success of students with disabilities, working to level the playing field for all."
