Hamilton Relay Expanding Workforce and Opening New Relay Center in Kansas

May, 29 2015

May 29, 2015, Aurora, Neb. – Hamilton Relay, a division of Hamilton Telecommunications based in Aurora, Nebraska, announced today that it is opening a new Relay Center to process Captioned Telephone calls in Wichita, Kansas. The company has secured a facility located at the Parklane Office Park in Southeast Wichita and will begin training and operations in late July, 2015.

Captioned Telephone (CapTel®) Service is designed specifically for individuals who have difficulty hearing on the telephone and allows users to listen while reading word-for-word captions of what’s being said to them on the display screen of a CapTel phone - similar to captions on television. Behind the scenes, Hamilton’s specially-trained Captioning Assistants repeat everything said by the standard phone user into state-of-the-art voice recognition software. Those words are then converted into text that appears on the CapTel phone. Captions are available in English or Spanish.

Hamilton plans to immediately hire between 75-125 people at the new Wichita center to fill a variety of positions including Center Manager, Human Resources Representative, I.T. Technician, Supervisors, Trainers and Captioning Assistants. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 am – midnight, seven days a week. Full-time and part-time positions are available.

“Hamilton is excited about the increased demand for our services and the opportunity it brings for our company, our employees and the city of Wichita,” said Dixie Ziegler, vice president of Hamilton Relay. “The support we have received from the Parklane Office Park management company, Builders, Inc., as well as the Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition, has been instrumental in helping us establish a new center in Wichita. We look forward to working with the city, its residents and our new employees.”

Hamilton has five other centers that process Telecommunications Relay and Captioned Telephone calls located in Aurora, Nebraska; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Frostburg, Maryland; Albany, Georgia; and Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The sixth center in Wichita is being added due to the continued growth and demand for Hamilton’s Captioned Telephone services nationwide.

“We are excited to welcome Hamilton Relay to the community,” said Gary Schmitt, chairman of the Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition. “GWEDC staff assisted Hamilton in its search, including hosting two site visits and providing information about our workforce and real estate options. They’ve been great to work with, and we are so pleased that they choose Wichita for their sixth relay center bringing another great company and new jobs to our community.”

“We are very pleased that Hamilton Relay chose Parklane Office Park to locate its new Relay Center,” said Dennis Fitzroy, vice president for Builders, Inc., who along with Adam Clements, handled the lease for Builders. “We are looking forward to a great relationship in the future.”
