June, 17 2014

Hamilton Relay is excited to announce the recipients of the 2013-2014 High School Scholarship award. Since 2010, Hamilton Relay has awarded $500 each year to graduating high school seniors who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have difficulty speaking. A recipient is selected from within each of the states where Hamilton is the contracted relay and/or captioned telephone service provider.

“Hamilton takes pride in recognizing outstanding leadership and promoting education across the country,” said Vice President of Hamilton Relay, Dixie Ziegler. “We are pleased to contribute to furthering the education of our scholarship recipients as they step forward in reaching their personal and professional goals.”

Each of the following high school students was selected after completing an application and writing a qualifying essay about communication services:

Winfred Huang, California
Oliver Adlam, Georgia
Nicole Johnston, Idaho
Brandon Clapper, Iowa
Carol Singleton, Kansas
Paige Watson, Louisiana
Megan Hunt, Maine
Jehanne McCullough, Maryland
Alanna Kilroy, Massachusetts

The Hamilton Relay Scholarship Award is one way Hamilton gives back to the communities it serves. Additionally, in recognition of Better Hearing and Speech Month each May, Hamilton Relay presents awards to influential community leaders who are hard of hearing, late-deafened or have difficulty speaking. In September, Hamilton recognizes Deaf Community Leaders during Deaf Awareness Week, celebrated nationally the last full week of the month. Hamilton Relay will also award three college students with a $1,000 scholarship.
