David Daviton of Sparks, Nevada has been selected as the Hamilton Relay Deaf Community Leader Award recipient for the state of Nevada. David is a tireless advocate and active participant in promoting the rights and inclusion of the Deaf community.
David is currently the president of both the Nevada Disability Advocacy and Law Center (NDALC) and the Nevada Association of the Deaf (NVAD). He’s been actively involved in both organizations and has held various positions throughout his involvement.
David was also the president of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advocacy Resource Center (now known as Deaf Centers of Nevada) for seven years. While he was there, he assisted with their move to a new office and design of a modular office solution. For 14 years, David was the chairman of the Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living (NNCIL).
David has played a significant role to implement and continue the growth and successes of different programs and initiatives, including the Commission on Service for Persons with Disabilities, Northern Nevada Access and Functional Needs Workgroup, State of Nevada Communication Access Council, Governor’s Committee on Employment for People with Disabilities and Camp SignShine.
We commend David for his leadership and are proud to present him with the Hamilton Relay 2016 Deaf Community Leader Award for the state of Nevada.
