April 30, 2010 – By acknowledging that opportunities for higher education affect the future of high school students, including students who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech disabled, Hamilton Relay, the telecommunications relay service provider for the state of Louisiana, has awarded Emily Lynn Freese of Slidell, Louisiana and student of Slidell High School, a $500 college scholarship.
Hamilton Relay offered the scholarship to 2010 graduating high school seniors who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech disabled within each of the states where they provide relay service. Hamilton takes pride in promoting education and outstanding leadership among members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Communities across the country. "We are excited that we have the opportunity to contribute to furthering Emily's education and wish her success in reaching her personal and professional goals," said Louisiana Outreach Coordinator, Henry Brinkmann.
Emily was awarded the $500 Hamilton Scholarship after completing an application and writing an essay under the topic of communication technology. Emily will be attending Southeastern Louisiana University this fall.
