Hamilton Relay, telecommunications relay service provider for the State of Kansas, has awarded a $500 college scholarship to Payal Sharmacharya from Lenexa, Kansas who is a student at Shawnee Mission East High School.
The Hamilton Relay Scholarship opportunity is offered to high school seniors who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have difficulty speaking. A recipient is selected within each of the states where Hamilton is the contracted relay service provider and is one of several ways the company gives back to the communities they serve.
"Hamilton takes pride in promoting education and outstanding leadership across the country," said Kansas Outreach Coordinator, Cady Lear. "We are excited to have the opportunity to contribute to furthering Payal's education and wish her success in reaching her personal and professional goals."
Payal Sharmacharya was awarded the $500 Hamilton Scholarship after completing an application and writing an essay under the topic of communication technology. Payal plans to attend Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. this Fall to study in the field International Studies.
