Brandy Bordelon selected for Hamilton Relay 2023 Community Leader Award for the State of Louisiana

Hamilton Relay is pleased to announce that the winner for the 2023 Community Leader Award for Louisiana is Brandy Bordelon.

Brandy is an important part of the Deaf community in Louisiana. She is dedicated to helping Deaf and DeafBlind members of the community stay connected and informed, especially in emergency situations. As a part of this effort, Brandy founded the Louisiana DDBHH Disaster Survivors Support Network in 2020.

In addition, Brandy is a member of the Statewide Independent Living Council, the Emergency Management Disability and Aging Coalition and the Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Association. She volunteers in Community Emergency Response Training, and her efforts in emergency management have also been recognized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) in their dedication awards in 2023.


This award will be presented at the Statewide Independent Living Council on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
