July, 20 2015

Ann Boyd of Lafayette has been selected as the Hamilton Relay 2015 Better Hearing and Speech Month Recognition Award recipient for the state of Louisiana. Ann serves as a positive role model and is a dedicated advocate for individuals with hearing loss.

Ann is currently a volunteer for the Cochlear Awareness Network where she provides education and resources to individuals with hearing loss. She also served as a hard of hearing board member for the Louisiana Relay Administration Board (RAB). In 2009, she played an instrumental role in implementing Captioned Telephone service in Louisiana.

For many years, Ann was an area representative for the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell). She was a panel participant at AG Bell conferences where she was able to discuss educational issues, career options and assistive technology with parents, educators and students who are hard of hearing. In addition, Ann is a dedicated advocate and assisted in a focus group addressing the state’s need to add Deaf Education and Interpreter curriculums to Louisiana universities and technical colleges.

We commend Ann for her passion and dedication to improving the lives of individuals who are hard of hearing and are proud to present her with the Hamilton Relay 2015 Better Hearing and Speech Month Recognition Award for the state of the Louisiana.
