Ian Guzman of San Diego, California has been selected as the recipient of the Hamilton Relay 2018 Deaf Community Leader Award for the state of California. His peers describe him as a compassionate advocate that works to improve the lives of individuals in the Deaf and Deaf-Blind Communities.
Ian is very active in the Deaf-Blind Community in San Diego. In fact, he attended a retreat in Washington in order to learn more and improve his pro-tactile skills. Upon his return, he shared that knowledge with other interpreters and continued to spread awareness.
Ian has also been involved with Deaf Community Services of San Diego (DCS), AIDS Walk and Breast Cancer Walk. In addition, he volunteers his time to give back to the Deaf Latinx and Deaf LGBT Communities in his area.
We commend Ian for his leadership and dedication and are proud to present him with the Hamilton Relay 2018 Deaf Community Leader Award for the state of California.
