Janet Parker selected for Hamilton Relay 2018 Deaf Community Leader Award for the State of Pennsylvania

Janet Parker has been selected as the recipient of the Hamilton Relay 2018 Deaf Community Leader Award for the state of Pennsylvania. Janet is described by her peers as a strong advocate in the Deaf Community.

Janet has been teaching ASL classes for over 30 years, and goes above and beyond for her students, meeting them after class to tutor them in group settings. She is also a Certified Deaf Interpreter with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID).   

In addition, Janet is a lifetime and active member in the Pennsylvania Society for the Advancement of the Deaf. She has been involved in numerous organizations throughout the years, including Center for Independent Living, RID, and Office for Vocational Rehabilitation, where she served as a Rehabilitation Counselor for 10 years. She is also a volunteer for the National Deaf Anti-Violence Coalition

We commend Janet for her leadership and dedication to the community and are proud to present her with the Hamilton Relay 2018 Deaf Community Leader Award for the state of Pennsylvania.
