Linda has been active within the hard of hearing community of Virginia for over two decades. She has given countless hours of her time to mentoring and peer building for individuals with hearing loss. Linda is a strong advocate, whose persistence and determination have been a driving force in changing the perception and stigma that is often associated with hearing loss.
For over ten years, Linda has served as President of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) - Greater Richmond Chapter. Linda goes above and beyond her duties, providing information about helpful resources and encouraging individuals to become proactive in their efforts to cope and live well with hearing loss. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Commonwealth's NewWell Sensory Fund and is an advocate for the General Assembly's legislature towards the funding of hearing aids by insurance companies.
Through peer building and education, Linda emphasizes the importance of hearing screenings and taking preventative measures to protect hearing. She has taught courses on the following topics related to hearing loss: Coping Strategies for Hearing Loss, Speech Reading, and Communication Techniques. Additionally, she has been a presenter and speaker with the Chesterfield County Adult Education program.
Linda has been described by her peers as a passionate leader and a compassionate mentor. She has served the greater Richmond area tirelessly for many years with passion and dedication to improving the lives of individuals who experience any level of hearing loss. Virginia is fortunate to have such an individual and we commend Linda for her accomplishments and dedication to the community.
