Nelda Twitchell of Chattanooga, Tennessee has been selected as the Hamilton Relay 2017 Better Hearing and Speech Month Recognition Award recipient for the state of Tennessee. Nelda is described by her peers as a hard-working advocate.
In addition to serving on the committee to establish Chattanooga’s chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) in 1985, Nelda has also acted as its president for the last eight years. When not volunteering for the Senior Ombudsman program with the city’s Partnership for Families, Children, and Adults, she can be found serving on the Tennessee Council for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing, the Advisory Committee for the Elderly & Disabled at Partnership and the Tennessee Organization of the Deaf-Blind (TODB).
The aforementioned volunteerism and advocacy efforts are just a few of many highlighted by her peers that make her more than worthy of this honor. We commend Nelda for her extraordinary dedication to serving others and are pleased to present her with the Hamilton Relay 2017 Better Hearing and Speech Month Recognition Award for the state of Tennessee.
