Wanda McMullen selected for Hamilton Relay 2015 Deaf Community Leader Award for the State of Maine

Wanda McMullen of Dixmont, Maine has been selected as the recipient of the Hamilton Relay 2015 Deaf Community Leader Award for the state of Maine. Wanda is a dedicated advocate for enhancing and improving the lives of individuals in the Deaf community.

Wanda is a committed volunteer in the central Maine area and offers her time to many organizations. She is currently serving as treasurer for Tri-Flying Hands, Bangor’s Deaf club. Wanda has also leant her talents to organizing a number of events, including organizing and planning the Bangor ATV Ride and planning the monthly dinners for Northern Deaf Night Out. She is also an active member of Deaf Women of Maine.

Wanda furthers her commitment to the community through her work at Disability Rights Maine where she is a Deaf Advocate and coordinates events for Peer Support Group, a group of individuals who are Deaf with intellectual disabilities. She also co-founded ASL4All, an interpreting agency, where she works with interpreters and community members to set up workshops based on needs and interests.

We commend Wanda for the positive impact she has had on those around her and are proud to present her with the Hamilton Relay 2015 Deaf Community Leader Award for the state of Maine.
