Carla Trivedi, of Louisville, KY, has been selected as the recipient of the Hamilton Relay 2018 Better Hearing and Speech Month Recognition Award for the state of Kentucky.
President of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) Kentuckiana chapter since 2013, her leadership and advocacy efforts have not only increased awareness in the state about issues related to or directly impacting citizens who are deaf and hard of hearing and have also garnered ongoing support from many Bluegrass businesses. Some of those supporters were on site to help the chapter celebrate its inaugural Walk4Hearing – a walk program that reaches out to people with hearing loss, their families, friends and hearing healthcare professionals to increase public consciousness about hearing health and communication access. The event was one of many coordinated primarily by Carla last year.
Beyond fostering business partnerships across Kentucky, she has also worked directly with the public as a trainer for Network of Consumer Hearing Assistive Technology (N-CHATT) and collaborates with social workers across the region Frankfort to provide a monthly support to people who have recently begun coping with hearing loss.
The aforementioned volunteerism and outreach efforts are just a few of many highlighted by her peers that make her more than worthy of this honor. We commend Carla for her dedication to her community and are proud to present her with the Hamilton Relay 2018 Better Hearing and Speech Month Recognition Award for the state of Kentucky.
