Nancy Yater selected for Hamilton Relay 2015 Deaf Community Leader Award for the State of Tennessee

Nancy Yater of Nashville, Tennessee has been selected as the recipient of the Hamilton Relay 2015 Deaf Community Leader Award for the state of Tennessee. Nancy is a committed leader and active member of the Deaf community in the Nashville area.

In addition to serving six years as a board member for Bridges, formerly known as the League for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Nancy volunteered with the Bridges Youth Program for a decade. Nancy is very active with the Tennessee Association of the Deaf (TAD) and has volunteered for every conference hosted by the Nashville chapter since 2005. Nancy is also an active member of the Nashville chapters of the Tennessee Association of the Deaf (NCTAD) and the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA).

Nancy’s commitment and service to the community is not limited to the Deaf community. Nancy is very involved as a volunteer for Your Heart On Art (YHOA), a “nonprofit organization committed to facilitating art workshops that promote emotional healing for those living with grief, pain, fear or stress.”

Nancy is described by her peers as a well-respected leader and tireless in her efforts to serve. We commend Nancy for her dedication and leadership in the Deaf community and are proud to present her with the Hamilton Relay 2015 Deaf Community Leader Award for the state of Tennessee.
