Q: What are the technical specifications for my computer to use Video Relay?

• Net Meeting (or H.323 compatible software and devices)

Q. Can I make Hamilton Video Relay calls via pagers or PDAs? A. It is not practical to attempt a Hamilton Video Relay call via pagers or PDAs due to existing technology. As technology evolves, Hamilton will bring its customers the latest innovations.

Q: Is Hamilton Video Relay compatible with Macintosh?

A. If you have H.323 compatible software installed on your Macintosh, you will type in call.hipvrs.com. This will connect you directly to a Hamilton Video Relay Interpreter. You will not connect via web page.

Q: Is Hamilton Video Relay compatible with Cable modem?
A. Hamilton Video Relay is compatible with Cable modem if you have 256K Bandwidth up and down.

Top of page.Q: Can I use Hamilton Video Relay if I am behind a firewall?
A. You can use Hamilton Video Relay if you are behind a firewall if the firewall is aware of Net Meeting* (or H.323 compatible software). See your system administrator. Linksys home firewalls are H.323 aware.

Q: What does it mean if I see a message that says, “You must restart your computer before the new settings will take effect. Do you want to restart your computer now?”

A. Choose No. This box appears on occasion while loading. This is a Microsoft feature. It is not necessary to restart your computer.

Q: How do I test my broadband connection speed?

Q: How do I download NetMeeting*?
A. If you have not previously downloaded Microsoft NetMeeting* on your computer:

  1. Go to Windows NetMeeting Download page .
  2. From this web page, you can download NetMeeting* according to your operating system.
  3. Open the file that you downloaded. This will install NetMeeting*.
  4. Go to www.hipvrs.com.
  5. Log-in or click on “Make a Call”.
  6. This will prompt you to configure NetMeeting*. A window will appear. Complete the fields and click Next.
  7. Uncheck the box next to the option that says, “Log-on to a Directory Server”. Click Next.
  8. There is a field that says, “Specify Speed of Connection”. Select one of the following:
    • “Always choose Cable, XDSL or ISDN”.
    • If you are on a network, select “Local Area Network”.
  9. When you click “Finish”, you are ready to send or receive a call. If you are expecting to receive a call, leave this page open.
