May, 25 2011

Hamilton Relay, telecommunications relay service provider for the State of Maryland, has awarded a $500 college scholarship to Olivia Smith from Bishopville, Maryland, a student of Stephen Decatur High School.

The Hamilton Relay Scholarship opportunity is offered to high school seniors who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have difficulty speaking. A recipient is selected within each of the states where Hamilton is the contracted relay service provider and is one of several ways the company gives back to the communities they serve.

"Hamilton takes pride in promoting education and outstanding leadership across the country," said Maryland Outreach Coordinator, Sudan Khan. "We are excited to have the opportunity to contribute to furthering Olivia's education and wish her success in reaching her personal and professional goals."

Olivia Smith was awarded the $500 Hamilton Relay Scholarship after completing an application and writing an essay under the topic of communication technology. Olivia plans to attend a University of her choice this Fall to study Mathematics and Education.
