Described by his peers as selfless, with a great sense of humor, Lee Dubois is an active leader for individuals who are deaf and reside in the State of Montana. Involved with the Gallatin Association of the Deaf (GAD) since its inception in 2009, Lee is a very dedicated member who has grown into a mentor and leader for the group.
Lee’s involvement with the GAD social committee has also been ongoing since GAD began. Currently, he serves as the social chairperson and coordinates many special events such as group outings, holiday parties, fundraisers and community awareness activities. Additionally, he goes to great lengths to ensure that individuals who are hearing and learning American Sign Language get involved with GAD so that they may interact with individuals who are deaf in order to improve their skills.
Lee is also recognized in the community for his amazing artwork. He is known to take natural resources and found objects and make them into creative household décor. He has generously donated many of his items to the Montana Association of the Deaf (MAD) Gala where they are sold through fundraising events.
Recently, Lee was appointed to serve as a 2014 Camp Chairperson for Big Sky Recreation Association of the Deaf. We commend Lee for his leadership and are proud to announce him as the recipient of the 2013 Deaf Community Leader Award for the State of Montana.
