Chriz Dally and Kim Anderson selected for Hamilton Relay 2016 Deaf Community Leader Award for the State of Kansas

September, 22 2016

Hamilton Relay is proud to present the 2016 Deaf Community Leader Award for Kansas to 2 amazing individuals – Chriz Dally and Kim Anderson. These two have worked very hard to turn Language Equality & Acquisition for Deaf Kids or LEAD-K into law. Getting a bill to become a law is no easy task. Chriz took the time to get the bill started, and Kim was behind her supporting her every step of the way. These two have both played different roles with the same goal in mind – getting the LEAD-K bill passed in Kansas. They have volunteered their time to travel to Topeka as often as possible to meet with legislators, testifying, sharing updates with the community, encouraging people to contact their state Senators and Representatives. Thanks to the hard work of these two ladies, the LEAD-K became a law on June 1, 2016 and Kansas was the 2nd state to implement this as law.

Chriz Dally has been described as a strong, knowledgeable advocate for her community. She’s not afraid to be up against any adversary and has a big heart for language and education. She has been a board member for the Kansas Association for the Deaf for 3 years, Kansas Community Action Plan for 3 years and Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for 2 years.

Kim Anderson has been described as a great cheerleader and organizer, recruiting people to help support this cause. She does a great job of keeping the community informed of the progress of LEAD-K. She has been a member of the Kansas Community Action Plan as a chairperson for 2 years, Kansas Association of the Deaf board member for 1 year and is currently is the Director of Cultural Enrichment Programs for the Deaf Cultural Center.

Congrats you both of you for showing everyone here today what a true leader for their community look like. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to LEAD-K. You represent Kansas well!

This leadership recognition has been brought to you by Hamilton Relay.
